Bass in earbuds is not about making everything sound boomy — it is about extending sub-bass frequencies cleanly, delivering mid-bass punch without bleeding into the midrange, and maintaining driver control at high listening levels. These are the earbuds that actually deliver in 2026.

What we measured: Sub-bass extension below 80Hz, mid-bass (80-250Hz) presence and punch, bass distortion at 85dB listening level, and bass bleed into midrange vocals. The Sony WF-1000XM6 with LDAC on Android revealed the most bass texture and sub-bass detail we measured in any earbud — the low end of reference recordings had audible nuance unavailable via AAC or SBC. Sub-bass remains controlled even at higher listening volumes, which was not the case for bass-boosted consumer earbuds that showed distortion above 80dB.
