This is the full professional range: LED video wall panels, stage lighting, atmospheric effects, loudspeakers, amplification, mixing and microphones for touring, venues, houses of worship and permanent installation. Most events draw from more than one of these categories at once, and the three constraints that cut across all of them are electrical supply, control protocol and rigging capacity.

How to plan an event system

Settle the electrical supply first. Lighting and LED walls are what exhaust a venue's power. Add the published maximum consumption of every fixture and panel before choosing anything else, because the supply either carries the design or it does not, and that answer changes the whole specification.

Decide the control protocol across the whole rig. Lighting runs on DMX512 as defined in ANSI E1.11, carried over Art-Net or sACN when one universe is not enough. Audio has its own routing. Confirm how many universes your lighting plot needs and how they reach the truss before the fixture order, because the node count is part of the design.

Size the audio from the audience, not the stage. Audience count and room type set the loudspeaker requirement; the amplifier follows from the speaker, and processing follows from the layout. Working in the other direction produces systems that are expensive and still wrong.

Treat rigging as a separate discipline. Weight, load path and wind loading for outdoor positions are matters for a qualified rigger working from the manufacturer's load tables. No specification page substitutes for that sign-off.

Match pixel pitch to the room before costing the wall. The viewing distance rule decides the pitch, pitch decides the price per square metre, and the wall size decides the total. Costing a wall before fixing the pitch produces a number that is meaningless.

Frequently asked questions

What limits the size of a rig in most venues?
Electrical supply, usually because of lighting and LED walls. Add the published maximum consumption of every fixture and panel before finalising the design.

How many DMX universes will I need?
Divide 512 by the channel count of each fixture mode and add up the fixtures. Art-Net and sACN carry multiple universes over a network when one is not enough.

What pixel pitch should I specify?
Match it to the closest viewer: the minimum comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly the pixel pitch in millimetres.

How do I match amplifiers to loudspeakers?
A common guideline is an amplifier rated about 1.5 to 2 times the loudspeaker's continuous (RMS) rating, with limiting set to protect the drivers.

Can you confirm rigging loads for a flown system?
Load ratings must be verified against the manufacturer's load table and approved by a qualified rigger. Product specifications are not a rigging sign-off.
